Okay, let's be honest—you may have noticed that some of my "recent work" isn't exactly recent. As the saying goes, the cobbler's kids have no shoes. In my case, the nonprofit marketing consultant's website hasn't had a proper portfolio refresh in far too long.
The irony is not lost on me.
Every day, I help organizations tell their stories, amplify their impact, engage their audiences, and build visibility. I create communications plans, develop campaigns, write content, manage partnerships, support executive leaders, and help nonprofits showcase the incredible work they're doing in their communities.
And then I look at my own website and think, "I should really update that." Maybe next week.
The truth is, I've been busy—and that's a good thing.
For more than 15 years, I've intentionally built my career around organizations that improve lives and strengthen communities. I've had the privilege of partnering with nonprofits, healthcare organizations, foundations, associations, and mission-driven businesses working to make the world a little better than they found it.
Through my work at MC Marketing & Communications, I serve as a fractional marketing and communications leader for organizations across Colorado and nationwide. My role often extends far beyond marketing. I serve as a strategic thought partner, helping organizations navigate growth, change, fundraising, community engagement, and public visibility.

My role often extends far beyond marketing. I serve as a strategic thought partner, helping organizations navigate growth, change, fundraising, community engagement, and public visibility.
Over the years, I've helped organizations:
My clients have worked on issues that matter deeply: healthcare access, disability services, workforce equity, housing stability, family support, education, and economic opportunity.
I've helped organizations educate communities, raise funds, recruit advocates, engage volunteers, secure sponsorships, and build movements around their missions.
I've watched campaigns generate critical resources for families. I've seen partnerships create opportunities that wouldn't have existed otherwise. I've helped leaders communicate difficult messages during times of change. And I've had the opportunity to tell stories that remind people why nonprofit work matters.
That's the work that energizes me.
It's also the reason my website sometimes gets pushed to the bottom of the to-do list.
When given the choice between updating my own portfolio or helping a nonprofit launch a fundraising campaign, secure a corporate partnership, communicate a major initiative, or engage a community around an important cause, my clients usually win.
Every time.
But as I continue to grow MC Marketing & Communications, I'm making a commitment to better showcase the incredible organizations I've had the privilege to serve and the results we've achieved together.
Because while the cobbler's kids may not always have shoes, eventually someone has to fix that.
In the meantime, if you're a nonprofit leader looking for a strategic marketing and communications partner who understands the unique challenges of mission-driven organizations, I'd love to connect.
After all, helping organizations change lives is still my favorite kind of work.
- Gain visibility in crowded and competitive environments
- Build awareness around complex social and healthcare issues
- Strengthen relationships with donors, corporate sponsors, and community partners
- Develop audience-focused campaigns that inspire action
- Tell compelling stories that connect mission to impact
- Support executive leaders through critical communications moments
- Translate data, research, and outcomes into messages people can understand and rally behind
